“One step at a time.” As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, this is a phrase I often find myself saying to my clients. Therapy is a journey full of twists and turns and I find it an honor to be able to go on this journey with my clients, helping them celebrate the small successes along the way and finding the positive in even the smallest of things.
I enjoy working with a wide variety of ages and populations, but my passion and specialty is working with children, adolescents and college age young adults. Using a mix of therapeutic approaches (Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance Commitment and Play Therapy) I strive to create a comfortable, relaxing, safe and fun environment for my clients to explore what is happening in their lives. We work together to reach whatever goals my clients may have.
In my sessions, the children (as young as four) and adolescents can expect to engage in many hands-on activities because, I feel the best way for young minds to work through their struggles and make positive change is through creativity. I also believe in creating a “treatment team” consisting of myself, the client, the parents/ caregivers, and often times the school which is why I consider it so important to have open communication and effective collaboration with all necessary parties when deemed appropriate.
